We carry out and haul away memory foam mattresses, heavy and floppy as they are. Tell us about an added topper or cover and whether the foundation or frame is also leaving.
Plan handling in its current condition
Leave the mattress where it sits for photos. Do not cut it up or attempt to compress a used mattress back into a delivery box. Show narrow turns and stairs, and disclose moisture, odors or pests before preparing it. A mattress and a loose foam topper are separate inventory items even when used together.
Heavier and floppier than it looks
Factory compression is not a preparation step to reproduce at home. Leave a used mattress expanded and its cover intact. A hybrid contains a spring structure as well as foam, so its handling differs from a loose topper. Identify a separate mattress topper and decide whether the foundation is staying.
Density and full-size carrying shape affect the load
A dense foam mattress can be heavy and difficult to grip even without a rigid edge. A hybrid can be less flexible, and a large size still needs turning space through the room. Foundation removal, stairs and moisture change the work; a mattress’s original shipping box is not a useful guide to its pickup size.
Curbside rules for memory foam mattress differ across Lee County
- Fort Myers: weekly bulk pickup up to 4 cubic yards, often on a different day from trash.
- Cape Coral: same day as trash, within 3 feet of the road, nothing over 150 pounds.
- Fort Myers Beach: free WM special pickup; not at the curb more than 24 hours early.
- Sanibel: sofas, chairs and mattresses go out with regular garbage.
- Unincorporated Lee County: picked up as needed; set out like garbage, within 6 feet of the road.
