We collect water heaters that have been completely drained and professionally disconnected. This includes tank, tankless and heat-pump models with the appropriate preparation completed. Identify where the installer left the old equipment and any detached stand or pan that should leave too.
Ask the replacement contractor whether haul-away is already included. When the old unit remains on site, we handle its carry-out and transport; plumbing, gas and hardwired electrical work belong to the appropriate trades.

An empty tank can still be a substantial weight.
The steel tank, lining and retained sediment can make a drained heater heavy. Do not tip it to test its weight or assume that opening a valve establishes complete drainage. Have the installer finish draining and disconnecting the unit before hauling.
A tankless appliance is a different shape and may still have a wall mounting. Heat-pump models add sealed refrigeration components that must remain intact, with any required refrigerant work handled by an HVAC professional.
Tank height matters at hatches and utility-room turns.
A tall cylindrical heater can be difficult to turn beneath a low ceiling or through an attic hatch. Raised platforms, nearby equipment and fragile floor areas also affect the carry. Describe the prepared unit’s actual location and leave controlled lowering to the crew.
For an upstairs condo, identify the elevator and loading route. An authorized ordinary hinged-door removal is different from altering a frame or wall; building changes are separate from carrying out the heater.
Include every tank and separate piece you want gone.
Tell us whether there is one tank, multiple units or a different configuration. Photograph separate items such as stands or discarded packaging if you want them reviewed too. An old unit’s presence in a closet does not authorize removing pipes, building fixtures or the replacement equipment.
If other appliances are leaving, combine the list with the appliance removal request. Air conditioning equipment has different refrigerant-related preparation. Neither type of pickup should be used as a substitute for the trade work it needs.
Weight, removal height and separate components shape the quote.
One drained tank at the garage door requires different handling from a heat-pump heater in an upstairs closet or attic. Unit dimensions, the available working floor, stair turns and the number of tanks affect the labor. Include detached stands, pans and packaging as separate pieces.
Metal content does not offset the work of carrying and transporting the unit. This is paid removal; if the plumber or retailer already provides an appropriate haul-away service, a second visit may be unnecessary.
