We remove window air conditioners, portable units and prepared equipment from central systems. A self-contained appliance keeps its cooling circuit intact; a split-system condenser needs an HVAC professional to disconnect it and handle refrigerant recovery before hauling.
Identify the unit and where it sits. Leave equipment supported and sealed while arranging removal; an appliance that no longer cools may still contain refrigerant.

Portable, window and split-system equipment are different loads.
A portable AC has a floor-standing cabinet, exhaust hose and window insert. A window unit carries its compressor in a compact, heavy chassis; a through-wall installation may also have a sleeve that stays in the building. Include only the accessories and supports intended to leave.
For a central replacement, distinguish the outdoor condenser from the indoor coil or air handler. Ask the installer which components will be detached and left for collection. Ductwork, controls and building supports are separate from the prepared appliance.
Coordinate hauling with the HVAC contractor.
A replacement contractor may already include haul-away. If old equipment will remain, establish its final location and the preparation being completed before arranging collection. Keep refrigerant recovery or changeout documentation for connected central equipment.
Do not cut lines or release refrigerant yourself. Cut tubing or oily leakage needs to be disclosed; it does not demonstrate proper recovery. We haul prepared equipment and do not perform HVAC service or refrigerant recovery.
Window height and condenser-pad access affect handling.
A supported window unit needs room for a controlled lift; an upper-floor position is different from a unit already resting on the ground. Through-wall chassis removal must distinguish the appliance from sleeve removal, weatherproofing and repairs.
For outdoor condensers, gate width, landscaping and steps control the carry. Rooftop equipment requiring a crane is outside this pickup scope. In a condo, identify the service-elevator route and loading arrangements for the prepared unit.
Cabinet weight and the carry shape the removal estimate.
A small portable AC and a heavy condenser are not equivalent loads. Unit dimensions, number of components, mounting or support conditions and stairs determine the handling involved. A condenser behind dense landscaping may require a longer carry than one beside the driveway.
Describe other appliances separately. A dehumidifier also has sealed components, but its bucket, drain hose and location need their own preparation.
Keep sealed appliances intact for the receiving process.
Small factory-sealed air conditioners go through an appropriate refrigerant-handling process at disposal. Do not puncture them or strip their coils for scrap. Central-system preparation belongs to the HVAC professional before hauling. EPA appliance-disposal guidance explains the distinction.
If your project requires a specific refrigerant or recycling record, settle that documentation with the responsible contractor or receiving provider. A photograph of the cleared pad records removal, not completion of refrigerant recovery or replacement installation.
