A wardrobe may fit through a doorway upright but have nowhere to tilt or turn on the other side. Mirrors, glass doors, a separate crown or a heavy upper cabinet can also change what initially looks like one straightforward piece of furniture.

Show Fort Myers Junk Removal the entire armoire and the space around it. Empty it before pickup and identify any wall anchors. A freestanding wardrobe and a fitted closet are different jobs, even when their doors look alike.

Planning your wardrobe & armoire removal

Tall, potentially top-heavy furniture with doors, mirrors or separate upper sections.

Before pickup
  • Remove clothes, valuables and shelf contents; box any contents included in removal.
  • Identify wall anchors, glass or mirrored doors and damaged joints.
Where it is and how to reach it
  • Ceiling and turning space near the cabinet and at stair landings.
  • Doorway widths, floor condition and any narrow exterior steps.
Useful photos
  • Full-height cabinet and any visible split between sections.
  • Anchors or attachments without pulling the cabinet away; the route out.
What affects the quote
  • Height, construction, fragile parts and approved disassembly.
  • Stair turns, floor protection and the carry to the truck.

An empty wardrobe is still a heavy furniture item.

Check shelves, drawers and small compartments for belongings before the visit. Do not leave clothing or boxed items inside simply because they are also being discarded. Separate contents make the removal list clear and reduce loose weight during the carry.

If you cannot empty it, say so in advance and identify what assistance is requested. Keep/removal decisions remain yours. You decide whether hidden papers, jewelry or family items belong in the load; we follow your instructions.

Identify seams, fragile doors and anchors.

Some wardrobes separate into an upper and lower section; others are one continuous cabinet. Photograph visible seams and tell us whether the piece was assembled in the room. Mirrors and glass should be described even when they are attached to an otherwise wooden unit.

Wall-anchored, built-in or glued furniture needs a separate review. Do not pull a tall cabinet forward to find an anchor for a photo. Removing a unit does not include wall repair or making changes to structural parts of the property.

Show the landing beyond the stairs.

The stairs alone do not explain the route. We also need the turn at the top and bottom, the doorway into the stairwell and any low ceiling above the landing. Soft floors or deteriorated steps can prevent an otherwise possible carry.

Routine disassembly and an alternative exit are reviewed before destructive cutting. Cutting furniture for disposal requires written approval and an agreed price if the work changes. Some cabinets come out intact and some need dismantling; we’ll tell you which before work starts.

Set aside furniture someone wants to keep.

If the armoire may be an antique or is meant for another family member, arrange valuation or transport before authorizing removal. An appraiser or mover handles those steps; we handle the haul-away. Donation depends on a recipient agreeing to take it.

A smaller bedroom cabinet may be covered by dresser removal. For clearing several rooms, use the furniture guide and list the tall wardrobe separately so its route receives the attention it needs.
