We remove unwanted smokers after fuel, ash and connections are addressed. Show whether it is a small electric smoker, pellet cabinet or a heavier offset unit.
Cold equipment and fuel preparation
The smoker must be completely cold. Disclose remaining ash, pellets, grease, fuel or gas cylinders before scheduling and agree on preparation. Cylinders and liquid fuel are not ordinary junk pickup. Show corroded wheels and heavy fireboxes, and do not assume a built-in outdoor kitchen or chimney is included.
Thick steel changes how a smoker can be lifted
An offset smoker concentrates substantial weight in the firebox and cooking chamber. Its handles, shelves and chimney may project beyond the wheelbase, while rust can weaken the frame underneath. A cabinet smoker may be easier to carry but still contain loose racks and drip trays. Keep those parts with the unit and identify anything sharp or unsupported.
Fireboxes and failed wheels affect the quote
Material thickness, overall length and the ability to roll across the patio are more useful than simply calling the smoker large. A step down from a lanai or a seized wheel changes the lifting work. Include any separate grill as another item; an outdoor cooking setup can contain several distinct appliances and fuel systems.
Where it can go in Lee County
If you’d rather handle some of it yourself, or it’s still worth giving away, these are the local options. Each organization decides what it accepts, so check with them before you load the car.
- Habitat’s ReStore accepts lawn mowers, grills, fountains and gently used tools, but not propane tanks, fuel or gas cans. Goodwill Southwest Florida doesn’t take lawn mowers. Sources: Habitat for Humanity of Lee and Hendry Counties: accepted donations; Goodwill Southwest Florida: donation guide
- Paint, pool chemicals, pesticides and propane tanks don’t go in a junk load; Lee County takes them from residents free at Topaz Court. Household chemical drop-off Source: Lee County Solid Waste: Topaz Court facility
