We haul computer drives and unwanted electronics after you have settled what happens to the information they contain. Secure erasure, physical destruction and destruction certificates are separate services; ordinary pickup does not perform them.
Decide whether the drive stays, is erased or is destroyed
Keep drives containing information you still need under your control until backup and retention decisions are complete. Deleting files or formatting a drive is not evidence that the information is unrecoverable.
Keep the drive and remove the computer
Have someone qualified remove the drive from equipment you are discarding. Set the retained drive aside and identify the remaining computer equipment for pickup. The hauling crew does not open or access a device to recover files.
Release drives after data work is complete
Use an appropriate data-service provider when secure erasure, physical destruction or proof of destruction is needed. Tell that provider whether the media is a hard disk, SSD or another storage device; choose the method before arranging removal of the remaining material.
Keep secure-destruction material out of the hauling load
If a drive is waiting for a separate secure service, do not put it in the box of electronics for us. A loose drive is already separated from its computer; the remaining question is whether you are retaining it, sending it for data work or releasing it for ordinary removal.
Customers retain responsibility for information on drives released with a pickup, and that responsibility is recorded in the estimate. Medical, legal and financial businesses must remove drives from equipment or certify their destruction before release. A loose drive from those records should go through the required data process before it enters the hauling load.
Loose media and complete IT equipment are different loads
A box of drives occupies little space. Racks, servers, monitors and office equipment add weight, dismantling and carrying work. Separate retained media, released devices and batteries so the estimate describes the equipment being hauled; retained media goes to a secure-destruction provider first.
