Check the paper path as well as the machine’s memory
Remove originals from the feeder, received pages from the output tray and documents from any internal storage compartment. For a copier-style unit, check the scanner glass too. Paper left in the machine is still part of your records.
Stored numbers, pages and settings
Models differ in what they retain. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions or have your IT provider resolve stored information before handing over the machine. Removal does not include resetting it or certifying that its memory has been erased.
Office records with special handling needs

The machine’s size and weight, detachable stands or feeders, stairs and office access determine the work. A small fax on a desk is different from a heavy multifunction unit that has to turn through a narrow doorway. State which accessories leave with it so the complete equipment load is accounted for.
