We haul away old garden equipment: hand tools, hose reels, spreaders and powered gear once the fuel is drained. List the pieces and point out fuel, blades, batteries and anything attached.
Prepare the equipment, not its chemicals
Keep fertilizer, pesticides, fuel and other garden chemicals outside the removal load. Empty the fuel from engines and tell us about leaks; batteries are handled separately. Show sharp edges, loose attachments and bulky handles. Installed pumps and hardwired or anchored equipment need disconnecting first.
Make separate groups for hand tools and powered machines
Rakes, hose reels and empty spreaders can be grouped while engines, batteries and sprayers are identified separately. Leave chemicals and fertilizers out of the equipment load. A wall-mounted hose reel has an attachment that a loose shovel does not. For a fuel-powered cutter, string-trimmer disposal addresses its shaft, line head and preparation.
Long handles and bulky carts affect loading space
Tool count alone misses the bulk of hose reels, spreaders and carts. Sharp heads, heavy cast parts and broken handles affect how the group can be carried. Mounted or connected equipment adds release work; clearing loose garden tools does not include repairing irrigation or removing a chemical residue.
Where it can go in Lee County
If you’d rather handle some of it yourself, or it’s still worth giving away, these are the local options. Each organization decides what it accepts, so check with them before you load the car.
