Old phones and tablets can go with the rest of your electronics pickup. Customers handle their own information and accounts before collection, and the devices go out as they are.

Data and battery condition

Remove or wipe personal data first. If storage remains, the estimate records the customer's data responsibility; regulated medical, legal and financial businesses must remove drives or certify destruction. Small built-in batteries can accompany accepted devices, but damaged, swollen or flood-exposed lithium items are not ordinary pickup. Do not remove a damaged battery yourself.

Complete the account handoff before giving a device away

Backups, account release and retained SIM or memory cards are owner tasks before collection. A usable device can still be unusable to a recipient if it remains locked to an account. Follow the manufacturer’s own reset instructions rather than treating removal as data erasure. For other storage devices, see hard-drive disposal.

Small devices still need battery-aware handling

Device quantity, chargers and physical condition determine the equipment group. Swelling, heat damage or flood exposure changes handling and must not be hidden by a case. Do not charge or pry open a damaged device. A larger electronics pickup can include prepared screens and computers while keeping battery concerns identifiable.
