We take completely cold ashes in a lidded metal container, and unused charcoal that’s bagged and dry. Ashes need to be completely cold, and lighter fluid goes to Lee County’s household chemical drop-off.
Cold throughout, contained and disclosed
Tell us when the fire pit or fireplace was last used and how the material is contained. Recent-use equipment is not ready for pickup until safely cold. Do not add ash to an ordinary junk bag or mix lighter fluid into a charcoal load. Leave uncertain material undisturbed and resolve preparation before scheduling.
Keep unused charcoal separate from spent ash
Dry bagged charcoal and fully cold ash in a lidded metal container are different materials. Identify both quantities rather than hiding ash inside a grill or bag of fuel. A prepared fire-pit pickup covers the cold empty equipment separately.
Containment and material quantity determine loading
A small container of cold ash differs from several heavy containers and a stock of charcoal bags. The carry from the fireplace or yard affects labor. Recent use must be disclosed so preparation can be resolved; a closed lid is not evidence that embers are safe, and no pickup schedule overrides the cold-material requirement.
