We take down and haul away pergolas: wood, aluminum and vinyl, freestanding or attached to the house. Freestanding frames are the simplest. For a pergola bolted to the house, send photos of the connection and we’ll tell you what the job needs before we book.
What’s on it and around it
Show each post base, any lights or fans, and anything growing on or hanging from it. Vines, shade cloth and hanging planters can hide the joints, so photograph them as they are; don’t pull plants or loosen a beam yourself to show us. Hardwired lighting is disconnected by an electrician first. Point out what must not be touched nearby, like a pool cage, a fence or landscaping.
How it’s built
An open timber frame, an aluminum kit and a frame with roof panels each come apart differently. Long solid beams are heavy and are lowered with control; hollow aluminum is light. A pergola with a full roof is closer to a gazebo. Habitat’s ReStore doesn’t take used or cut lumber, so old pergola wood usually goes in the load.
What changes the price
The size, the beam material, how the posts are set, the room around it to lower pieces safely, and the carry to the truck. Posts set in concrete footings come out differently from posts on brackets; tell us which, and whether the footings go too. We haul loose concrete; for a slab still in place, send photos and we’ll tell you how it gets handled. See how pricing works.
Where it can go in Lee County
If you’d rather handle some of it yourself, or it’s still worth giving away, these are the local options. Each organization decides what it accepts, so check with them before you load the car.
- Habitat’s ReStore accepts full-sheet drywall, lumber 6 feet or longer, plywood, trim, bricks, blocks and pavers. It doesn’t take cut or used wood, paint or materials left outdoors. Goodwill doesn’t take building materials. Sources: Habitat for Humanity of Lee and Hendry Counties: accepted donations; Goodwill Southwest Florida: donation guide
