We remove unwanted sheets, towels, blankets, comforters and other household bedding. Keep clean reusable linens separate from worn or affected material so their condition determines the next step.
Separate usable linens from bedding with condition problems
Check closets, guest rooms and stored bags before combining the load. A dry stack of towels and a damp bag from garage storage should not be packed together.
Clean linens with another use
Keep these dry and grouped so an accepting organization can identify what is offered. Lee County Domestic Animal Services lists towels, blankets, comforters, pillowcases and sheets among its requested donations. Confirm the condition and current drop-off arrangements before taking a load there.
Damp, pest-affected or contaminated bedding
Disclose the condition before pickup and keep affected material contained and separate. Do not put it into a usable donation bag or assume ordinary collection resolves a pest problem.
Weighted and electric bedding need separate attention
A small bag of weighted blankets can weigh much more than a large bag of sheets. Identify those pieces instead of relying on bag count alone. Unplug electric blankets and keep cords and controllers together; point out damaged wiring rather than burying it in a textile bag.
Pillows and mattress toppers are distinct from washable sheets and towels. Separate them if they are leaving too, particularly when they have different condition or donation limitations.
Bulk, weight and the carry from storage shape the estimate
Comforters and blankets occupy space even when light; weighted or damp material adds handling weight. The amount of bedding, its condition and whether it is grouped in one accessible place or scattered across rooms affect the pickup. Include clothing from the same closet cleanout so the full textile load is clear.
Where it can go in Lee County
If you’d rather handle some of it yourself, or it’s still worth giving away, these are the local options. Each organization decides what it accepts, so check with them before you load the car.
