We remove installed carpet within an agreed scope and haul carpet and padding already taken out. A furnished bedroom, a carpeted staircase and dry rolls beside a garage require different work. Identify the rooms involved and which furniture must stay.
If a flooring installer is handling the tear-out, establish whether their service includes padding, tack strips and haul-away. We can collect the remaining material or perform the agreed carpet removal before the next stage.

Carpet, padding and tack strips need separate handling.
Installed carpet can be cut into manageable sections for removal. Padding separates from it, while tack strips and staples add sharp material that must be identified in the scope. Pulling strips can leave nail holes or chip a slab edge; removal does not restore the subfloor.
For adhesive scraping, tile-and-thinset removal or subfloor preparation, ask when you call and we’ll tell you how each gets handled. For detached cabinets, drywall and other renovation waste accompanying the carpet, use the construction debris guide.
Stairs and furnished rooms add work before the rolls leave.
Each stair has tread and riser surfaces, turns and fastening points rather than one open floor area. Closets and tight spaces around built-in furniture can also make tear-out more involved. Identify these areas along with the main rooms.
Mark furniture that stays and separately list any bedroom furniture leaving first. Already-removed carpet should be counted as rolls and padding, including material stored behind the front row; the original room area alone does not describe the finished load.
Wet rolls weigh more; contamination changes the handling.
Describe the source of dampness or damage before pickup. Wet carpet needs containment and is heavier to carry; sewage, bodily-fluid contamination or suspect hazardous material requires another route. Do not conceal contamination inside rolled material.
If an unknown old layer or suspect adhesive appears underneath, leave it undisturbed for appropriate assessment. Hauling does not include material testing, mold treatment or disturbing suspected asbestos. After a hurricane or flood, our storm debris guide explains when county collection may handle wet carpet and when a private hauler makes sense.
Where the rolls sit changes the carry-out.
Tell us if material is upstairs, in a garage, outside or in a condo. Show hallways, stair landings, elevators and the route to loading. Long rolls and separate padding can occupy a different space from what the room’s floor area suggests.
Check building vendor and loading requirements before the appointment. Keep ordinary access paths clear where safe, but do not carry heavy rolls downstairs solely to make the estimate simpler. Show their current location so the carry can be included.
Tear-out, material weight and stairs affect the price.
Collecting dry rolls beside a garage involves less work than emptying a furnished room and removing attached carpet, padding and tack strips. Wet material, long rolls, stairs and a distant loading area change carrying and containment needs. Specify which stages the crew is handling.
The cleared area is left broom-clean. Adhesive removal, floor repair and preparing a finished surface for the next installer remain separate. Coordinate the installer’s requirements so removal covers the work you actually need.
