A portable basketball goal with a weighted base is different from a pole set in concrete or a backboard attached to the garage. Send a photo of the complete goal, its base and the surrounding space. We can help with portable goals and review the specific work needed for anchored ones.
Don’t loosen a tall pole or lower a damaged backboard just to get pictures. Tell us about rust, cracks, a leaning assembly or overhead wires before scheduling. The work needs to be agreed before anything comes apart.
Empty the portable base
Tell us whether the base contains water or sand and whether the wheels still roll. The base must be emptied before removal. If you cannot prepare it safely, say so when asking for an estimate; don’t tip a heavy or unstable assembly on your own.
Include the full pole and backboard in the photos, even if the hoop is already partly dismantled. Loose hardware, damaged glass or a stuck height-adjustment mechanism needs to be described. We plan dismantling and handling around the actual assembly, not just the size of the base.
In-ground poles and footings
For an anchor-bolt mount, show the bolts and plate from a safe position. For an in-ground pole, show where it enters the ground. The established removal approach may leave anchors in place or cut an accepted pole flush at grade, leaving the concrete footing in the ground. The exact attachment, property permission and safe method need confirmation before acceptance.
A wall-mounted backboard or anything attached to a building needs separate review. This is not permission for structural work, roof access or changes to wiring. Do not start cutting or unbolting based on this guide.
Show the space around it, not only the rim.
Include the driveway or yard, the gate and the route to a permitted loading place. Tell us if removal would cross a neighbor’s property or pass near a pool, enclosure or overhead utility. Access through someone else’s property needs their permission.
If other outdoor pieces are going too, list them separately. The outdoor removal guide covers loose items and attached structures; the playset guide covers a different dismantling job. A basketball-goal quote does not automatically include those pieces.
Agree on what will be left behind.
Before work, confirm which parts leave and whether an anchor or footing stays. Haul-away does not include concrete removal, driveway repair or rebuilding the goal elsewhere.
The estimate considers the goal’s condition, ballast preparation, dismantling and the path to loading. We put the agreed work and price in writing before starting. See pricing for what affects the price, and send photos if you’re unsure which type of goal you have.
