We remove unwanted stereos, receivers, amplifiers and speakers. Identify each component and whether cables, stands or a cabinet are also leaving.

Unplug and separate what stays

Remove discs and personal items you want to keep. Disconnect ordinary plug-in equipment, and point out speakers or cables installed in walls before any removal scope is agreed. Large floor speakers and heavy amplifiers need their dimensions and route out described. Battery-powered equipment needs battery-condition details.

Keep the signal chain separate from installed room wiring

Receivers, amplifiers, speakers and subwoofers can be independent items even when one remote controls the system. Decide which components stay before disconnecting accessible cables. Built-in speakers and concealed wiring need separate preparation. A heavy wooden radio console combines electronics with furniture carrying.

Amplifier weight and speaker size affect the load

Large transformers and speaker cabinets can make audio equipment heavier than its dimensions suggest. Tall speakers, fragile covers and stairs affect carrying, while stands and cabinets add components. In-wall wiring stays in place; we clear the loose stereo gear. List all boxes rather than using one receiver as a stand-in for the system.
