We dismantle and remove walk-in coolers after the appropriate trades have completed refrigerant recovery and electrical disconnection. The job includes the agreed enclosure and equipment, with the surrounding building and anything being retained identified separately.

Complete the trade handoff before panels come apart

A walk-in is an enclosure connected to a refrigeration installation. Empty the contents and establish which refrigeration components, door and floor are leaving before dismantling begins.

Refrigeration and electrical preparation

Have the qualified HVAC and electrical providers complete their work before removal. Once refrigerant is recovered and hardwired power is disconnected, we take the unit out. Cutting a line or panel is not a shortcut around that preparation.

Contents and retained components

Remove food and liquids, or identify contents as separate work before scheduling the dismantling. Mark components you are retaining so useful equipment is not treated as part of the discarded enclosure.

Separate the cooler enclosure from the building

Insulated panels, the cooler door and a removable cooler floor are different from the room’s structural walls or a concrete slab. Identify drains, fixed floors and building attachments so the removal scope ends at the right place. Building repairs and structural alterations require separate arrangements.

Panel joining systems vary. Many sectional installations have locking connections that call for a planned dismantling sequence. Leave the connected enclosure intact for that plan rather than cutting it into fragments or loosening panels without considering what they support.

Plan where full panels and heavy components will go

The cooler entrance shows only one part of the access. Dismantling also needs working space around the installation and a path for panels, the door and refrigeration equipment to leave the building.

  • Identify ceiling clearance and obstructions above or beside the enclosure.
  • Check the exit’s turns and doorways against the components being removed, not just the cooler doorway.
  • Keep staging and loading space clear of retained kitchen equipment and active work areas.

Enclosure size, installation and exit access drive the estimate

The number and size of panels, door construction, refrigeration equipment, floor arrangement and joining system determine dismantling work. The carry to loading and available working room affect the job as well. Trade preparation, slab work and building repairs are separate from removing the agreed cooler.

For a cabinet that leaves as an appliance, see commercial refrigerator removal. A wider restaurant equipment cleanout can include other released appliances, prep tables and furniture without treating them as part of the walk-in enclosure.
