We remove unwanted toys, toy bins and larger play equipment from homes and storage areas. Choose the favorites and keepsakes first, then group the toys that are ready to leave with their own parts.
Sort by what is inside the toy
Toys made only from wood or plastic can sit beside powered devices with very different handling needs. A little sorting keeps important pieces from being lost and batteries from disappearing into a mixed bag.
Loose toys and complete sets
Keep small parts contained and separate retained figures, pieces or accessories. A complete set is easier for an accepting recipient to assess than a box of mixed fragments. Check the condition and recall status before passing toys to another family.
Powered and connected toys
Identify battery-powered toys and resolve connected accounts or stored information before release. Do not hide loose rechargeable packs or damaged batteries in the toy load. Kids’ ride-ons need their batteries removed and handled separately; a damaged battery needs appropriate handling rather than improvised removal.
Play furniture and outdoor equipment need their own plan
List a playhouse, bulky activity table or large ride-on separately from bags of small toys. An assembled playhouse can need ordinary dismantling and a clear path through a gate; it is not described adequately by the number of toy bins.
Include book removal if shelves of children’s books are also leaving. Separate baby gear such as swings and seats from ordinary toys because its completeness, preparation and reuse decisions are different.
Loose clutter and assembled play pieces change the work
The volume of loose toys, sorting or gathering still needed, oversized pieces, dismantling and the carry from storage determine the job. Identify furniture that stays, including the toy chest or shelving, so the contents can leave without taking the storage you intend to keep.
