We can help with an unwanted safe when it is open, empty and something we can move safely. Send the make and model, approximate dimensions and any documented weight. A compact fire-rated safe can be far heavier than its size suggests.

Tell us about every step and tight turn between it and the truck. We review each pickup individually; heavy safes on stairs or jobs beyond suitable equipment need a specialist. A locked safe must be opened by your locksmith first. We never force it or take it with unknown contents.

Open and empty first, then a plan for the actual weight and way out. Stairs and unusually heavy safes may require a specialist; no universal weight limit is promised.

Planning your safe removal

Concentrated weight, reachable internal anchors and a verified path are essential.

Before pickup
  • Have the owner’s locksmith open a locked safe; it must be empty.
  • Arrange firearms, ammunition and valuables separately before removal.
Where it is and how to reach it
  • Every step and threshold, narrow turn and floor condition.
  • Door clearances and distance to a usable loading position.
Useful photos
  • Make/model label, dimensions and safe exterior.
  • Open empty interior and visible anchor locations without exposing private contents; full route.
What affects the quote
  • Documented weight, unbolting access and floor protection.
  • Stairs, required equipment and whether a specialist referral is necessary.

The make and model help us check the weight.

Provide manufacturer information when available. Fire-rated construction can add weight that is not obvious in a photograph. If the weight is unknown, say so; a visual guess does not establish that ordinary equipment can handle it.

There is no published universal weight limit. Stairs, soft flooring, tight turns and a distant loading position can require specialist equipment even before size becomes the deciding factor. A safe on stairs may need a safe mover or rigger rather than ordinary hauling.

Unbolting is limited to reachable fasteners inside an open safe.

An open, empty safe can be reviewed for unbolting when the bolts are reachable from inside and the customer approves. Standard-tool unbolting is different from drilling, cutting or forcing a safe. Anchor holes remain; patching is the customer’s responsibility.

Do not unbolt or tip a heavy safe before the handling plan is agreed. Photograph reachable anchors without moving it. If the fasteners cannot be accessed, or the safe is locked, arrange the appropriate locksmith or specialist work first.

Include the surface beneath the safe.

Show flooring, thresholds and every stair landing along the proposed path. Mention mobile-home floor concerns, exterior steps, narrow doors and any turn that may require the safe to change orientation. Floor protection cannot substitute for a sound supporting surface.

Tell us where the loading vehicle can reach and whether a condo elevator is the only approved route. Crew and equipment must suit the actual job. Send photos or call. We’ll tell you what we can take on and how the rest gets handled.

Empty the safe before pickup.

The safe must be empty before pickup. Firearms, ammunition, money and personal documents need separate arrangements by the owner. We never force a locked safe or haul it with unknown contents.

For an estate or inherited property, identify who can authorize disposal and resolve conflicting instructions first. The furniture guide can cover surrounding contents, but their acceptance does not include an unassessed safe.
