We remove unwanted child car seats, including expired or damaged seats that are ready for disposal. Remove the seat from the vehicle first, and identify which bases and inserts belong with it.

Keep the replacement seat’s parts out of the pickup

Car seats often share a storage area with spare bases, stroller adapters and travel bags. Check underneath the cover and around the base for small belongings, then group only the pieces you intend to release.

  • Separate any base or adapter needed for a seat you are keeping.
  • Keep broken plastic, detached buckles and loose parts with the unwanted seat, where they can be identified.
  • Point out unusual contamination before collection rather than hiding it under a cover.

Why old car seats are rarely reused

Reuse depends on the seat’s history and manufacturer guidance, not its appearance. A recipient needs enough information to check the model, age, recalls and completeness. If that history is unknown, treat the seat as a disposal decision rather than bundling it into ordinary baby-gear donations.

Check a take-back option before booking a single seat

Retailer trade-in events have their own dates and accepted products. Confirm an active event before making the trip; a past promotion does not establish a current drop-off option.

Keep safety decisions with the manufacturer

We provide removal, not inspection or certification for another child. Use the NHTSA secondhand-seat checklist and manufacturer guidance when evaluating a possible handoff. Keep a seat with unresolved history out of an ordinary donation load.

Combine nursery items when they are ready to leave

A single detached seat is a small load. Multiple seats, bulky bases and other baby gear change the total volume; upstairs storage and a long carry affect collection too. Include an unwanted stroller if it is also leaving, while keeping the child’s current equipment separate.

Where it can go in Lee County

If you’d rather handle some of it yourself, or it’s still worth giving away, these are the local options. Each organization decides what it accepts, so check with them before you load the car.
