An outgrown bike, a rusted frame or several bicycles that haven’t left the garage in years can be included in a pickup. Tell us how many are going and show the whole group, including loose wheels or parts. Ordinary pedal bikes and battery-powered bikes need different preparation.
If the rest of the garage needs attention too, include it in the same request. The garage cleanout guide explains how we leave the tools and other belongings you’re keeping in place.
Make sure each bike is yours to let go.
At a home, mark the bikes going and remove locks, helmets, bags and personal accessories you want to keep. Tell us if a bike is still locked to a rack; a key or permission to enter the building does not establish ownership of every bicycle there.
For a condo, rental or shared bike room, management needs to settle permission to dispose of the bikes before booking. We remove the bikes management authorizes in writing. The condo and HOA guide explains the need for item-specific instructions.
Tell us if it’s an e-bike before scheduling.
An e-bike is not automatically accepted with ordinary pedal bikes. Identify the battery and explain any damage, swelling, heat, leaking or flood exposure. Loose, damaged, swollen or flood-exposed lithium packs go to Lee County’s Household Chemical Waste and Electronics Recycling Facility at Topaz Court, which recycles rechargeable batteries free; we haul the bike.
Do not open a battery case or handle a damaged pack to prepare a photo. Describe it from a safe distance and arrange appropriate specialist guidance. Saltwater-exposed battery equipment needs a qualified party to remove or clear the battery before the remaining equipment can be considered. Battery repair goes to a bike or battery shop; once the battery is cleared, we can look at the rest.
Handlebars and pedals widen a bike’s carrying space.
The wheel track is narrow, but handlebars and pedals project into doorways and nearby belongings. Several bikes stacked together can have tangled cables or locked wheels. Leave unstable stacks alone and identify bicycles on overhead hooks so lifting them down is included.
Count loose wheels and frames separately from complete bikes. A rack is also a separate item; identify whether it is freestanding or attached. The shelving and storage guide covers retained storage and furniture attachments.
A complete bike is easier to pass on than a parts pile.
For a usable bicycle, gather its ordinary accessories and identify its frame size and known mechanical condition for a prospective recipient. A bike needing tires or brake work is a different reuse decision from one ready to ride; removal does not include repairs or a safety certification. Confirm that the recipient can collect it before your deadline.
For paid removal, the number of bicycles, loose parts, overhead storage and stairs affect the work. A floor-standing pedal bike differs from a heavy cargo bike or an e-bike requiring separate battery preparation. Garage furniture and other equipment can be included as distinct items.
