Drop Ceiling Removal
We take down suspended ceilings (tiles, metal grid and hanger wire) in homes, offices and stores, and haul them away in the same visit.
We take down suspended ceilings and haul them away: the tiles, the metal T-grid, the wall angle around the edges and the hanger wires. That’s a common first step when an office is being refitted, a store is changing tenants, or a room at home is being opened back up. If the tiles are already down and stacked, we just haul them.
A drop ceiling usually hides lights, vents, sprinkler heads and wiring, so what’s above the grid matters as much as the grid itself.
It comes down in layers
Tiles lift out first, then the main runners and cross-tees, then the hanger wires from the structure above, then the wall angle around the room. The tiles are light but bulky, so a single room of them takes more truck space than people expect; tell us the room size. The metal grid is light and goes out separately from the tiles.
Lights, vents and sprinklers come out of the grid first
Light fixtures, diffusers and anything wired or plumbed into the grid (including fire-sprinkler drops in commercial spaces) are disconnected by the right licensed trade before the grid comes down. Tell us what’s in the ceiling and whether it’s been disconnected.
Look above before anyone pulls it
Older buildings can have textured or patched ceilings above the grid, or old insulation lying on the tiles. EPA lists textured paint and patching compounds used on walls and ceilings among materials that may contain asbestos, and advises leaving suspect material undisturbed. Lift one tile, photograph what’s above, and tell us the age of the building. If something is suspect, it’s tested before the ceiling comes down.
Offices and stores
In a commercial space, tell us the building’s work hours, where the truck can load, and whether the tenant next door needs the hallways kept clear. Work outside business hours can be arranged for commercial jobs. If your building or property manager requires a certificate of insurance, tell us when you book and we’ll arrange it. Our commercial junk removal pages cover coordinating with building management.
What changes the price
The ceiling area and height, how many fixtures sit in the grid, whether the tiles crumble as they come out, and the route to the truck. A small office with an open grid is lighter work than a large room with low clearance and fixtures every few feet. See how pricing works.
